Salary: £30,000 - 40,000 with share options (0.75 FTE for Part-Time Role)
About the Roles
Join us at Aegis FibreTech, an innovative technology spinout developing next-generation materials for the automotive, space, and defence sectors. Based in Oxfordshire, we create lightweight fibre-based products designed to perform in extreme environments.
We’re hiring two practical, hands-on R&D Engineers or Scientists to join our founding technical team. One role is full-time; the second is part-time/flexible; perfect for someone returning to work after a career break or looking for a role that fits around other commitments. Both positions are on-site and offer the opportunity to help shape world-class materials technology from the ground up.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
·Either PhD-level degree in materials science, mechanical engineering or related fields OR a similar level of industry experience
·A background in materials science, mechanical engineering or a related field
·Hands-on experience developing materials-based solutions
·A strong interest in advanced materials, process development, and applied science
·A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines
·Clear written and verbal communication skills
We’re especially interested in experience with:
·High temperature ceramics and composites for thermal insulation and heat shielding materials
·Electrospinning or fibre-based materials
·Materials characterisation techniques including structural, thermal and mechanical properties.
·Machining and 3D printing
Key Accountabilities
·Design, develop and validate electrospun fibre materials
·Design and perform mechanical, thermal, and materials characterisation tests
·Collaborate with engineers, scientists and clients across the business
·Analyse data and contribute to technical reports, intellectual property, and product strategy
·Support the scale-up of lab-based processes for industrial applications
·Play a key role in shaping the company\'s technology roadmap and long-term vision through technical insight and innovation
