Responsibilities and Duties of the Job:

  • Assist service users with their everyday needs, including in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, and using wheelchairs.
  • Support clients with daily activities such as washing, dental hygiene, and ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Use lifting and transferring techniques, including hoists, to mobilise service users.
  • Accompany clients to the toilet and assist with the use of the commode, including emptying and changing incontinence pads.
  • Supervise clients during meals, prepare light snacks, reheat meals, and provide drinks.
  • Feed clients who are unable to do so themselves and administer medication when instructed by the registered manager.
  • Perform domestic services including housework, laundry, ironing, shopping, and bed changing/making.
  • Accompany clients for appointments and visits.
  • Experience in PEG feeding, stoma bag, and catheter care is required.
  • Monitor signs of deterioration in clients' health.
  • Provide essential support to service users and develop effective communication while maintaining their dignity.
  • Prepare and maintain records of clients' progress and report changes in conditions to the manager and supervisor.
  • Demonstrate respect and privacy for care users, maintaining dignity and data protection.
  • Provide leadership to the care staff within Aegis Care Solutions Ltd.
  • Care in accordance with current best practices, policies, procedures, and legislative requirements under the direction of the Manager.
  • Supervise and train new care staff in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Maintain skills at a current level and undertake training and development as required.
  • Conduct monthly meetings.
  • Ensure service users are at the heart of care delivery and that their wishes enhance their wellbeing.
  • Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of individuals supported by the service.
  • This position requires working in different areas, including Leeds, York, and Wakefield.

Requirements:

  • Full in-house induction programme with a week-long induction and 2 weeks shadowing an experienced Care Worker.
  • Enhanced DBS Check and 2 satisfactory references required.
  • Being a car driver or motorcyclist is essential with your own transport.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to suit client requirements.

Salary: £10.50 - £13.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations: Staff are provided with full PPE, and daily lateral flow tests are mandatory. All staff are strongly advised to receive all doses of the COVID vaccine, and compliance with Leeds City Council's vaccine rules is required.
