Position Description
As part of the Global Tax team, this resource will focus on the accounting operations of the business for VAT/indirect tax matters related to VAT compliance for AEG, the AEG Ireland entities and AEG throughout Europe.
Responsibilities
- Advice and review complex VAT returns, address liability queries, and conduct VAT health checks.
- Timely oversight of registrations, audits, and VAT filings.
- Customer exemption forms and profiles within the AEG system.
- Guidance on complex VAT issues related to transactions, including both domestic and cross-border scenarios.
- Work with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to manage relationships and ensure compliance.
- Stay abreast of taxation standards and regulations in the UK and Europe.
- Provide advice on VAT treatment of transactions, place of supply of services, and conduct contract reviews.
- Respond to ad hoc VAT-related questions from clients and team members on various issues.
Requirements
- Degree in accounting/taxation highly preferred.
- At least 5+ years of proven experience in VAT accounting, with a strong understanding of VAT compliance and the preparation of VAT returns.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Client service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
- Communication skills, capable of explaining complex VAT issues clearly and effectively.
