Are you looking to grow your career in data and analytics? Want to work for a company named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work? AEG Presents is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to join our CRM & Digital team. This is a hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys building data platforms as well as working across analytics. This role is focused on building and developing the data warehouse, rather than managing an established team, with scope to build and grow a team over time.
This role sits at the centre of how data flows across the business. You'll shape how our data is structured, connected, and used - from core databases through to reporting, insights, and the products that support marketing, ticketing, and talent buying.
- Building and shaping our data environment
- Developing and expanding our data warehouse, working closely with engineering to improve how data is structured, stored, and accessed.
- Supporting ETL processes to bring together data from multiple sources and ensure it is reliable and ready for use.
- Connecting data across systems and products
- Working across teams to ensure our databases integrate effectively with reporting tools and business platforms.
- Supporting how data is used across marketing, ticketing, and wider product areas to enable better decision-making.
- Turning data into insight
- Creating dashboards and reporting that translate data into clear, useful insights.
- Helping stakeholders understand and use data to support planning, performance, and growth.
- Setting direction and improving capability
- Shaping the roadmap for data and analytics as we continue to build out our UK tech stack.
- Identifying opportunities to improve tools, processes, and ways of working.
- Ensuring quality and consistency
- Maintaining high standards of data quality, accuracy, and transparency.
- Working closely with the wider analytics team to align priorities and deliver consistently across projects.
What we're looking for
- Experience and technical capability
- Strong experience in a data or analytics role, with exposure to both analytics and data engineering.
- Good understanding of how databases are structured and how data flows between systems.
- Experience working with SQL and managing or working with large datasets.
- Tools and ways of working
- Experience using BI tools such as Tableau, Domo, MicroStrategy, or similar.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.
- Experience working with data pipelines or ETL processes.
- Working style and approach
- Comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams, including product and business stakeholders.
- Able to explain complex data in a clear and practical way.
- An interest in building and improving data environments, not just analysing outputs.
- Future growth
- Some experience supporting or managing others, or an interest in developing this as the team grows.

Are you curious about how data connects across systems? Enjoy building data platforms and working across both engineering and analytics? If you want to help shape how AEG Presents builds and uses its data - we'd love to hear from you.
