What is the Opportunity? The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and AtkinsRéalis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.
The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has been awarded contracts for Unit 5, 7, and 8 for steam generator replacements as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project.
Under the general direction of the Construction Manager and in coordination with the Welding Program Manager, the Welding Superintendent will assist in the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities on project construction site in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate and ensures all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.
What You'll Do Here:
- Maintain strong working relationships with peers, clients, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is executed safely and in full compliance with safety, quality, and human performance programs.
- Implement and enforce Joint Venture, client, and project-specific policies and procedures.
- Support the development, monitoring, and maintenance of the project schedule, ensuring alignment with the master schedule and subcontractor commitments.
- Develop and manage detailed look-ahead plans for General Forepersons and subcontractors to support effective execution.
- Identify risks to schedule or budget and participate in the development and implementation of recovery strategies.
- Plan, supervise, and approve the work of self-perform forces and subcontractors, including construction methods, labour requirements, materials, tools, equipment, rentals, and work sequencing.
- Assume accountability for productivity, efficient utilization of resources, and overall contractual performance of mechanical and welding scopes.
- Ensure all trades personnel are properly trained and qualified in safety, quality, technical requirements, equipment operation, and owner-specific standards.
- Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, Comprehensive Work Packages (CWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project schedule and budget requirements.
- Interface and coordinate with client representatives, design engineering, quality, project controls, and other contractors to support execution.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable QA programs, codes, and project quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete field documentation including safety records, daily reports, labour resource tracking, training records, T&E and rental logs, and work package documentation.
- Support field engineering activities including work planning, layout, development of work instructions, and verification of as-built conditions.
- Perform other duties as required to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
- Direct Weld Supervisors, General Forepersons, Forepersons, tradespeople, and subcontractors in the execution of their assigned duties.
This is a site-based role with some periodic requirements at the project office. Includes travel as necessary.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Education to include a technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
- 8+ Years related nuclear experience in a commercial nuclear plant.
- Three (3) of the eight (8) years must be in a supervisor or manager position. (Required)
- Ability to successfully supervise a construction project.
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements.
- Good communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential.
- Strong working knowledge of Nuclear Codes and Standards and CWB: ASME SEC I, ASME SEC III, Div. 1, ASME SEC VIII, Div. 1, ASME SEC IX, CSA B51, ASME B31.1 & B31.3, W47.1 and W47.2.
Due to the nature of work conducted by SPG and SGRT, must be able to obtain unescorted access to the Nuclear Power Plant.
