Who We Are

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough.

It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and Mc Cowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough.

The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team.

What You Will Do

  • Work collaboratively with Construction and IDD teams to develop and update bi-annual bottom-up estimates, ensuring alignment with current project execution strategies, scope, schedule, and field conditions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables to prepare accurate quantity take-offs and estimate updates.
  • Continuously update quantities and estimate assumptions based on the latest issued drawings, design revisions, and scope changes.
  • Analyze estimate variances against approved budgets, forecasts, and actual project costs.
  • Perform commercial and budget analysis for procurement packages by evaluating bid submissions, supplier quotations, market pricing, and proposed award values.
  • Assist the Commercial Team in the preparation, review, and evaluation of variation estimates, change orders, and cost impacts resulting from scope changes.
  • Support Cost Controllers in the preparation and evaluation of project trends, cost forecasts, and change management activities.
  • Participate in estimate reconciliation exercises between forecasted and actual costs.
  • Participate in project reviews, budget discussions, and cost alignment meetings.
  • Provide estimate presentations and supporting analysis to project management and stakeholders.

Experience You Will Bring

  • Diploma or Degree within Civil Construction or equivalent combination of training.
  • 8+ years of Estimating and Operational experience within Major Project Estimating,
  • Professional Engineer, or equivalent, designation preferred.
  • Large infrastructure project and bid experience (rail, roads, bridges), with knowledge of the local supply chain, in Toronto and the GTA, for projects of $1000M+ value.
  • Proven experience leading large bids involving multiple work types/disciplines.
  • Expert in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Rail Method Of Measurement (RMM1) would be advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract language/Terms and Conditions/Bonding, etc.
  • Computer literate – working knowledge of MS Excel/Word/Project, and Hard Dollar or similar estimating software.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, including costs and scheduling and general requirements of construction projects.
