Who We Are: STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC's Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

What You Will Do:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate on-site mechanical and electrical activities to comply with specifications, requirements, and codes.
  • Coordinate all relevant drawings and information to eliminate interference problems.
  • Provide direction during functional performance testing of all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in updating and achieving schedule requirements, mechanical and electrical RFIs, shop drawings, and administrate mechanical/electrical project completion requirements.
  • Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors.
  • Report accurate quantities for labour cost reports and accurately monitor material ledgers to ensure quantities in estimate are sufficient to complete the project.
  • Find solutions to conflicts in structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications and follow up with consultants and sub-trades to completion.
  • Ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, project specifications, and design instruction.
  • Develop and coordinate TTC submittals and various requirements.
  • Interface third-party stakeholder coordination with Metrolinx, TTC, Design team (Hatch/WSP), City of Toronto, ESA, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with tracking the status of RFIs, shop drawings, work plans, design changes, testing and commissioning documentation, estimates/change orders.
  • Maintain frequent project tracking system updates that feed reports and dashboards.
  • Interface with Procurement, Project Controls, Scheduling, Client, Engineer of Record, Testing & Commissioning, and Systems Assurance team where required.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is an asset.
  • 4-5 years of mechanical and electrical construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Construction project work experience is mandatory.
  • Experience with transit projects is an asset.
  • Experience dealing with project specification requirements and submittals for both M&E and systems construction works.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong computer skills – must be comfortable working in a 3D design environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering systems, principles, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of surveying techniques and surveying equipment standards and procedures.
  • Ability to proactively identify and document any problems or issues and effectively manage and resolve them.
  • Ability to conceptualize drawings and identify potential construction conflicts.
