The Journeyman Powerline Technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications
- Perform line maintenance in a safe efficient manner utilizing de‑energized, live line hot‑stick or live line rubber glove techniques on voltages up to and including 44 KV
- Safe operation of heavy equipment including Radial Boom Diggers, Line Trucks and all terrain equipment as required
- Operate and maintain hand tools as may be required for the job including blocks, grips, jacks, hot line tools and cover up, etc.
- Instruct and train junior personnel in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment
- Maintain personal and group safety at all times, and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or close to energized equipment
- Respond to unscheduled outages as the result of weather, component failures, vehicular accidents, etc.
- Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in crew tasks
- Ensure that environment is in compliance with Aecon Health
