STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for aCommercial Specialist to join our team.
What You Will Do Here
- Identify, track and assist with all variations to the project scope, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including meeting deadlines.
- Coordinate the development of variation estimates and forecast their issuance.
- Coordinate with leadership, Project Managers, Contractors, Consultants and other stakeholders to assess the impact of variations and ensure timely resolution.
- Evaluate the commercial implications of variations and work with the cost team to ensure accurate cost forecasting and budget management.
- Identify and coordinate with risk team to assess risks associated with project variations, ensuring that potential impacts are identified and addressed proactively.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all variations, including justification, approval, implementation details, and provide regular reports and updates.
- Review and identify variations or modifications for potential impacts on the project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Prepare regular reports on variation status, impacts and resolutions for senior mangement and project stakeholders.
- Assist with the development and and updating the variations management plan.
- Ensure all variations comply with relevant regulations, standards and best practices.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Will Bring to The Team:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of construction experience as a project coordinator or a similar role within large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the rail or transportation sector.
- 1-2 years of commercial experience in contract/change management, or similar role.
- Familiarity with standard template agreements.
- Ability to read and interpret contractual documents, including terms and conditions, planning, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of project mangement principles, contract management and cost control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing changes.
- Familiarity with relevant construction contracts and contract law.
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
