Who We Are:
STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for aBIM Coordinator (Contract) to join our team.
What You Will Do:
- Evaluate and assess site conditions prior to construction.
- Develop 2D and 3D drawings for phased site development during construction.
- Design various utilities such as underground waterlines, wastewater systems, electrical setups, etc.
- Create and maintain corridors / sections / profiles for rail and road design alignments.
- Perform quantity take-offs using cut/fill tracking and XML surface extractions.
- Support the IDD Director/BIM Manager to ensure the correct activities are assigned to the consultant supply chains’ Information Managers
- Provide coordination reports of the interfaces between engineering disciplines / design and construction phases / temporary and permanent works design activities throughout the IDD process.
- Coordinate and develop designs through IDD processes such as 5D/4D to ensure optimization of sustainability, digital engineering, buildability, carbon considerations, logistics, industrialization, maintenance design, and health, safety and welfare during construction and in-use phases.
- Run IDD tool training workshops to enable people to deliver their responsibilities in relation to STC’s IDD Strategy.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Construction Managers to develop project specific processes for utilizing or creating 3D information for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling, field layout, and/or facilities management.
- Coordinate with field superintendents, construction managers, design engineers, and others to meet constructability requirements.
- Develop project specific protocols regarding communication and data exchange, nomenclature, formats, and 3D workspace orientation to ensure interoperability as required.
- Assist in the creation of project specific contract language for tender packages related to 3D submission processes and 3D as-builts for facilities management.
- Review, coordinate, and manage the creation of Project Information Models (PIMs).
- Undertake project deployment duties such as installing software, organizing, maintaining, and setting up CAD exchange environments, basic training & support for project team, coordination assistance, file conversions, and documenting processes and solutions for reuse.
- Champion 3D coordination on active job sites, act as liaison with project team, consultants, and subcontractors to facilitate processes and maintain the Master Project BIM database.
- Identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance or improve processes.
Experience You Will Bring:
- Educational and Industry experience requirements include Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus experience/knowledge of Civil Construction practice.
- Extensive experience with 3D modeling in grading, ground surfacing, road design, etc.
- Knowledge of Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise, BIM 360, and Aconex.
- Working knowledge of EHS regulations.
- Proven experience in priority setting, multitasking, and working with minimal supervision.
- Understanding design and construction phases and alignment with the Digital Plan of Works is an asset.
- Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle is an asset.
- Experience working in large, complex construction projects in infrastructure is an asset.
- Project experience in implementation of BIM process in accordance with PAS1192:2 and Institute for BIM in Canada toolkits is an asset.
- Proficiency with model federation platforms such as Assemble Systems, Navisworks, and Bentley Navigator.
- Proficiency in 4D platforms such as Fuzor, Navisworks Simulate, and Synchro.
- Proficiency in BIM authoring tools such as REVIT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Bentley AECOsim.
- Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.)
