Lead process design and delivery for UK‑based nuclear projects, spanning client consultancy to engineering design, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review key process engineering deliverables as part of a multidisciplinary team, including:
    • Process Descriptions
    • Basis of Design
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
    • Process & Instrument Data Sheets & Schedules
    • Underpinning Design Calculations
    • Material and Enthalpy Balances
    • Design Justification Reports
  • Lead all aspects of process design, including:
    • Key deliverables listed above, and their delegation as required
    • Ensuring that the process design satisfies the project requirements and overall scope
    • Ensuring that the process design complies with health and safety standards by utilising a Safety in Design approach
    • Project programme development
    • Managing project workload amongst the Process Team
    • Liaising with other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated multidisciplinary design
    • Communication of design development in project meetings and reporting documentation
  • Additional tasks:
    • Development of the Process Team via training, guidance and reviewing of work
    • Responsible as a ‘Designer’ under the CDM 2015 regulations
    • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and ability to apply ‘Engineering Fit for Purpose Judgement’ where appropriate
    • Support the Process Team growth through identifying work opportunities and assisting with recruitment activities
    • Manage contractors and build a working relationship with Delivery Partners
    • Staying abreast of technical and commercial developments in the nuclear industry

Qualifications

  • Chartered Member with the IChemE or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of experience working as a Process Engineer or equivalent in aspects of design in the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrable experience of the following:
    • Awareness and implementation of Health and Safety processes, regulations and standards
    • Successfully leading the delivery of process engineering work packages
    • Leading a team
    • Mentoring of other Process Engineers
    • Supporting bids
    • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
    • Working knowledge of different forms of contract, in particular NEC
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
