Job Description

Here’s what you’ll do: We are searching for an experienced Rail Engineering Manager to join us here at AECOM and support the delivery of our Rail, Structures & Ground Engineering opportunities, inclusive of:

  • Old Oak Common Rail Systems
  • HRS12 OCS CP7
  • Flood Resilience CP7
  • E&P Framework (AMCO) CP7
  • Drainage SRSA Enhancements including Cowley (Oxford), Burns Stations Limerick

Our W&W Rail Engineering Management Team is based in our AECOM Swindon office and has an established record for successfully delivering Rail Projects. The team meets regularly to share best practice and peer learning is encouraged to improve our personal and team performance. Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the infrastructure lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs. The projects we deliver range from stations to train maintenance and servicing depots and power supply upgrades. We also provide support for other parts of AECOM’s business on major multidisciplinary projects. Our clients are many and varied from both the private and public sector and include the major custodians of the UK’s rail network, numerous local authorities, and major Contractors.

Leads engineers from multiple disciplines to deliver integrated designs. Responsible for appointment of competent discipline lead engineers for technical delivery. Requires multi‑disciplinary knowledge of rail engineering. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. Builds relationships with technical teams within the organisation and individuals inside and outside of the organisation. Responsible for acting independently on technical matters. Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. May have responsibility for people management.

Qualifications

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer CEng / IEng.
  • Recognised engineering qualification or preferably a degree in Engineering.
  • Multi‑disciplinary knowledge of rail engineering.
  • Strong technical leadership of teams in the delivery of projects focused on delivering for the Client.
  • Knowledge of system interfaces which impact on discipline design principles and demonstrable experience of the successful management of interfaces within projects.
  • Completing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
