In this role, you will lead Public Health and Fire Protection systems design on diverse projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable, high-quality outcomes. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage small multi-disciplinary projects, and ensure designs meet regulatory and QA standards. You’ll contribute to net zero and water sustainability goals while supporting client relationships and project delivery. Responsibilities

  • Lead PH and Fire Protection design on projects and guide the discipline
  • Mentor and develop staff; coordinate with design teams
  • Project manage small multi-disciplinary projects
  • Gather information from Architects, QS and Consultants for coordinated design
  • Ensure all technical information is communicated to the design team throughout the project
  • Input to BIM design processes (Revit) and assist with project design
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and obtain approvals
  • Prepare and sign off calculations per QA procedures and standards
  • Represent AECOM in client, design team, and progress meetings
  • Support pre-qualification and tender responses; review tender returns
  • Ensure alignment with Project Management Plan and programme
  • Apply AECOM Safety, Health and Environment policy
  • Maintain client relationships and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Public health engineering experience in design consultancy or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of statutory regulations and approvals process
  • Ability to work independently with good time management
  • Experience in mixed-use, residential, commercial and healthcare sectors
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drawings
  • Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks for 3D design and review
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE / IET / IMechE) or actively working towards it
