Company Description
Work with Us. Change the World. At AECOM, we are delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.
Job Description
Start here. Grow here. Ready to lead key client relationships — using insight, imagination, and innovation to excite and shape the future of the water industry? AECOM’s UK&I Water business is at the forefront of delivering transformative projects that enhance communities, safeguard the environment, and shape a sustainable future for generations to come. Building on a series of recent major wins and long-standing partnerships with key water clients, we are entering an exciting period of growth.
To strengthen our position and ensure continued success, we are looking for a Client Account Manager (CAM) to join our leadership team working with the following clients: Anglian Water & Severn Trent Water. This is not a typical client management role. As a CAM, you will be a strategic leader, responsible for shaping AECOM’s presence and influence in the market, driving growth, and ensuring our clients view us as their partner of choice. You will build on strong foundations, deepening relationships, strengthening our market reputation, and unlocking new opportunities.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Drive Strategic Growth – Build on our recent successes to position AECOM for upcoming opportunities, including AMP8 and beyond. Lead the development and execution of client strategies that drive growth and long-term value.
- Influence & Inspire – Establish and deepen trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across client organisations. Act as a strategic advisor, influencing decision-making and helping shape how clients approach the future of water.
- Lead Major Pursuits – Take accountability for high-profile pursuits, from positioning through to successful bid delivery. Ensure AECOM’s proposals are compelling, commercially sound, and aligned with client needs.
- Foster Innovation – Understand emerging industry challenges and opportunities, introducing creative and forward-thinking solutions that excite clients and differentiate AECOM.
- Collaborate & Empower – Work across technical, commercial, and operational teams to bring the best of AECOM to clients. Support delivery teams with smooth handovers to ensure excellence in execution.
- Strengthen Market Presence – Play a central role in building AECOM’s brand and reputation across the water sector, ensuring we remain a market leader and trusted partner.
The Team: The AECOM Water team has a significant market presence across the UK and Ireland, with a network of around 700 professionals delivering projects at every scale. Our success is built on strong, long-term relationships and a healthy pipeline of work with clients including Anglian Water, Severn Trent Water, Wessex Water, South West Water, and many others. Looking ahead, a number of major opportunities will be coming to market over the next few years.
By appointing a suitably senior and experienced CAM, we aim to strengthen our client relationships, enhance our market position, and build our brand ahead of future procurement. These opportunities include: AMP8 programmes with England and Wales water companies, including Severn Trent Water and Anglian Water. Major UK&I projects, such as those delivered under Direct Procurement for Customer (DPC) and Strategic Infrastructure Project Regulations (SIPR).
Enjoy the Perks. At AECOM, you’ll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.
If you’re passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don’t just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for: You’ll be an accomplished leader with a proven track record in client account management, business development, and strategic growth. You’ll thrive on building relationships, influencing at senior levels, and delivering results in complex, regulated environments. Extensive experience in the water sector. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing client strategies that deliver sustainable growth. A history of winning and leading major pursuits and complex bids. Strong existing relationships with senior stakeholders, ideally within water utilities or regulators. Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills. The ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and delivery teams to maximise value for clients.
