Overview
AECOM – Senior Tunnelling Engineer role located in the UK. We are looking for a Senior Tunnelling Engineer to join our teams across the UK to work on major civils projects with tunnelling elements. The role offers exposure to a portfolio of tunnelling and underground structures design and management services across public and private sectors.
What you’ll do
- Deliver: Act as a Design Lead for elements of a project, liaising with clients and the wider design team for day-to-day design development, guided by a Technical Lead / mentor
- Provide Expertise: Manage more junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements
- Deliver: Provide input to the development of designs and technical solutions
What we offer
You’ll have the opportunity to work on significant Civil Infrastructure/ Tunnelling projects across the UK and abroad. There is the possibility of part-time options; full-time is typical.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering, or MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical/Tunnelling Engineering, with/working towards professional membership
- Broad experience as a designer in reinforced concrete to Eurocodes for underground structures (e.g., secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in-situ concrete elements, D-Walls, shafts and tunnels)
- Civil or Structural Engineer with good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil-structure interaction
