Job Description
Due to significant infrastructure planning wins and new opportunities, we are looking to hire a Senior Town Planner. You will be joining a great team; you will have an interesting and diverse workload and you will be given the opportunity to make the most of your abilities. Based from our offices in Glasgow or Edinburgh with an option for hybrid working. You will be able to work on a range of prestigious infrastructure projects for our clients in the energy transition, rail and water development sectors, as well as a range of regional and local developments. AECOM is a market leader in UK infrastructure development. Join us now and you could be working on:
- Numerous renewable energy projects with a pipeline of future work.
- Carbon capture and storage projects.
- Energy transmission schemes.
- Transport projects, including active travel.
- Planning policy.
What you will do
- Project Coordination and Delivery: Assisting in the successful delivery of major development applications and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types. Assisting with project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.
- Planning Advice and Strategy: Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients on planning consent requirements and the application of permitted development rights. Carrying out planning research and analysis and assisting with planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.
- Documentation and Application Management: Writing Planning Statements, Pre-Application Consultation Reports and Design and Access Statements for development applications. Leading, submitting, and managing planning applications, including liaison and negotiation with local planning authorities and other key stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Working closely with the Environmental Impact Assessment team. Participating in internal and external meetings. Supporting public and stakeholder engagement.
- Research, Business Development, and Project Management: Contribution to the preparation of successful commercial tenders. Carrying out planning research and analysis and assisting with planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.

Qualifications
- Education and Qualifications: Degree in Town Planning (desirable) or a related discipline. Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional body (desirable).
- Experience: Demonstrable and relevant experience of working on Scottish planning applications.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of Scottish planning policy and legislation.
- Skills: Commercial awareness. Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Personal Qualities: Client focus, with good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working approach. High level of commitment to quality.
