At AECOM we are recruiting Senior Project Controls consultants for a critical defence infrastructure project that includes new build construction and civil infrastructure. Part of the Integrated Programme Controls team, you will demonstrate experience in delivering PMO best practice for infrastructure projects and programmes. The primary function of this role is to manage and deliver project and programme controls, addressing actual budget and forecast costs to capture business and project status. This role requires you to spend up to three days per week at the client office or site in Glasgow.
Responsibilities
- Establishing / building on existing AECOM cost control and management systems
- Accountable (initially) for day‑to‑day collection of all cost information
- Responsible for the establishment and operation of cost management process
- Key participant in establishing and monitoring management budgets
- Manage project budgets – non‑manual and manual people hour and cost control
- Manage project budgets – equipment, plant, material and subcontract cost control
- Report costs against activities and provide metrics and comparisons between actual and budgeted costs
- In liaison with all parties, responsible for collation and management of quantity tracking/variances
- Prepare and collate inputs into weekly and monthly reporting on cost flow forecast, cash flow forecast and cost value reporting
- Manage defined cost forecasts and all associated reporting, cost capture and allocations
- Deliver data analysis to support project decisions and provide reporting dashboards and management information using best practice digital tools
Qualifications
- Extensive experience gained in a multi‑discipline project environment, ideally within a Defence, Marine or Port construction setting
- Good working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts or similar, and commercial awareness
- Strong organisational, coordination and people management skills
- Advanced appreciation of planning and scheduling, cost engineering, change control, risk, and opportunity management
- Proven experience of a PMO and/or demonstrated good understanding of what a PMO does
- Experience in a Project Controls role within large, complex infrastructure or construction projects, preferably with a formal professional Project Management qualification
- Excellent appreciation of quantitative schedule and cost risk analysis
- Advanced level proficiency with Primavera P6 and Power BI preferred
- Great attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area from a recognised and accredited university
- Ideally a project controls or management qualification (APMG Planning and Controls, Prince2, RICS, APM, MICE, CIOB)
- Ability to gain UK SC clearance
- Ability to work onsite in central Glasgow or client site up to three days per week
