Job Description

In response to significant client demand and a strong infrastructure opportunity pipeline, the AECOM programme management advisory and delivery teams are seeking to grow across all grades. The team is seeking suitably experienced and capable individuals to work independently or with a Director to successfully shape, develop, initiate and deliver client investment and business change programmes. The available roles will support programme advisory and delivery commissions across the whole programme lifecycle including programme definition, delivery model and organisational design, programme readiness, maturity assessments, programme management and PMO design, leadership and implementation.
Depending on an individual's grade, example role duties include:
- Lead the team in the delivery of its strategic goals in relation to capability, growth and commercial targets;
- Lead or support the delivery of significant, complex programme management advisory or delivery commissions involving multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups;
- Ensure commissions are managed and delivered to the appropriate quality standards and commercial expectations;
- Ensure a robust approach to risk identification, evaluation and mitigation is applied to all commissions;
- Demonstrate leadership in the implementation of AECOM health, safety and environment requirements;
- Develop strong relationships with clients and members of cross-functional teams to support successful delivery;
- Identify and act upon business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities within and without the team;
- Lead and support the development of proposals through the entire bid process;
- Ensure all direct reports are engaged, developed and supported along their own career journeys;
- Identify opportunities to share knowledge and best practice and promote the team both internally and externally with clients and relevant industry bodies.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here's what we're looking for: Depending on an individual's grade, typical requirements and experience may include:
- Sector expertise: Proven experience in public and private sector infrastructure projects and programmes, ideally across the aviation, energy, rail, defence and water sectors but other sectors such as broader central government, highways, health, and decarbonisation delivery are also of interest.
- Programme management and PMO leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex, multi-disciplinary programmes and PMOs.
- Core skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, commercial acumen, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Consulting background: Experience in management consulting a plus, including leading or supporting PMO and programme management roles on major commissions.
- Client engagement: Skilled in building and maintaining senior-level client relationships, managing live programmes and identifying new business opportunities.
- Commercial and business development: Track record in winning and retaining clients, cross-selling services, and ensuring delivery aligns with commercial requirements and organisational standards.
- Line management: Experience managing and developing teams within a consultancy environment, including mentoring junior PMO and project controls staff.
- PMO expertise: Ability to implement and oversee PMO functions, governance structures and programme controls strategies, including cost, schedule, risk, and change management.
- Tools and systems knowledge: Proficiency in PMO and project controls tools and software such as MS Office, Power BI, Aconex, and Primavera P6.
- Performance monitoring and reporting: Skilled in guiding baseline development (scope, time, cost, risk), monitoring delivery performance, and overseeing structured governance and reporting processes.
- Risk and issue management: Experience in risk analysis and collaborating with programme leadership to address actions, mitigate risks, and identify opportunities.
- Industry engagement: Motivated with a strong professional network and willingness to represent the organisation at industry forums and events.
Qualifications/criteria:
- Ability to gain BPSS and/or SC clearance.
- Degree level education, ideally project or programme management/construction/engineering/business.
- NEC qualified or willing to upskill.
- APM and or ChPP accreditation or prepared to work toward ChPP.
- Managing Successful Programmes accredited (or international equivalent) is preferred.
- Experience using business information tools is preferred.
- Experience using digital tools and contract management software (e.g., PowerBi, CEMAR, Primavera P6).
