Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Civil Engineer to further develop their career, supporting our current and future projects, which range from drainage design, highway projects, defence schemes and data centre design through to site experience of construction support, allowing scope for increasing responsibility in both technical delivery and project management.
You will be part of our specialist Civil Engineering discipline as part of a wider AECOM Engineering community, collaborating with ground engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, architects, project managers, environmental specialists and surveyors based in the UK and overseas. We work for both public and private sector clients across a diverse range of sectors including local authorities, transport authorities, defence, healthcare, industrial, education, leisure and other government.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Prepare and review survey specifications, including utilities and topographical surveys.
- Check and coordinate the production of studies, assessments, and conceptual designs for development schemes (drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks, and flood risk).
- Contribute to the design and delivery of highways, drainage, and associated infrastructure for complex, multidisciplinary developments.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to bids and proposals, attend project meetings, and confidently communicate technical solutions.

Qualifications
We recognise that a variety of experiences and backgrounds may suit this role. Without being prescriptive, we are seeking the right blend of skills from the following list, with the understanding that experience levels in specific technical areas may vary:
- Civil Engineering Degree and/or master’s degree.
- Relevant Experience in UK development related infrastructure engineering.
- The ability to produce the design of highways, access roads and infrastructure of development projects including the design of road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and services.
- To understand and have experience of relevant standards and guidance.
- A knowledge of road design using 3D computer modelling packages, such as Civil 3D.
- A knowledge of drainage design including piped systems, SuDS based systems and familiarity with storage design and computer programs such as InfoDrainage.
- Demonstrable progress towards a professional qualification (IEng/CEng) is preferred.
