Job Description
AECOM’s Highways team in Perth is continuing to grow as we deliver a strong pipeline of major transport infrastructure projects across Western Australia. With ongoing opportunities through the Main Roads WA Engineering and Technical Services (ETS) panel, major road and highway upgrades, and broader infrastructure investment across the state, we are looking for an experienced Design Manager to help lead the delivery of complex multidisciplinary transport projects.
This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role working across significant highway and road projects that are shaping the future of transport connectivity across WA and ANZ. You’ll work alongside highly respected technical leaders while leveraging the strength of AECOM’s national and global design network.
How you’ll make a difference
- Lead the design management and delivery of major highways and road infrastructure projects across Western Australia and ANZ.
- Manage multidisciplinary design teams across highways, drainage, pavements, structures, utilities, traffic and ITS disciplines.
- Take accountability for project scope, programme, commercial performance, technical delivery and client outcomes.
- Coordinate project delivery across Perth, interstate and global teams to successfully deliver complex infrastructure programs.
- Act as a trusted client interface, building strong relationships with Main Roads WA and key transport infrastructure stakeholders.
- Drive collaboration across design and delivery teams to ensure high-quality, innovative and constructable outcomes.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance across project teams while supporting capability growth within the Highways business.
- Contribute to business development, strategic pursuits and future work winning opportunities across the WA market.
The qualities that help you thrive
- Proven experience as a Design Manager, Project Manager or Senior Engineer within highways or major transport infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience managing multidisciplinary design teams across complex road and highway projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects for Main Roads WA or similar transport authorities.
- Strong understanding of highways design standards, project delivery frameworks and infrastructure governance requirements.
- Experience managing project scope, programme, risk, commercial performance and technical coordination.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and client management capability.
- A collaborative leadership style and passion for developing high-performing teams.
- Relevant engineering qualifications and professional registration or pathway toward registration.
