As our Perth business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Associate Director – Drainage & Stormwater Hydraulics to provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure projects while helping shape the future of our drainage and water resources capability in Western Australia.

What you'll do

This is a senior technical leadership role for an experienced drainage and stormwater specialist who enjoys solving complex hydraulic challenges, mentoring engineers and influencing major project outcomes. You will play a key role in the planning, assessment and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure across transport, Defence and energy projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, resilient and technically robust solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure across major infrastructure projects.
  • Providing technical leadership in the design of pit and pipe drainage networks, open channel systems, culverts, detention and treatment infrastructure, flood conveyance systems and major/minor drainage networks.
  • Overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic modelling activities and translating results into practical design outcomes.
  • Reviewing and approving technical calculations, reports, drawings, specifications and design models.
  • Advising clients and project teams on drainage strategies, flood risk, network performance and infrastructure resilience.

What you'll bring

You are a recognised technical leader with deep expertise in stormwater and drainage hydraulics and a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure outcomes. You will likely bring:

  • Around 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networks.
  • Strong technical capability across underground and surface water drainage systems.
  • Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership, design review and mentoring.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working directly with clients.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of successful project delivery principles.

Experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • Major road, rail, Defence, aviation, renewable energy or other large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Application of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR 2019) and relevant authority drainage standards and guidelines.
  • Software such as 12d, Drains, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, RORB or similar hydraulic modelling tools.
  • Technical governance, independent design review and project assurance.
  • Established client relationships and market presence within Western Australia.
  • Experience supporting the growth and development of a technical discipline or team.
