We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water Solutions team. This role can be based in St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, London, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, or Plymouth.
You will contribute to major water and wastewater frameworks across the UK, including Southern Water, South West Water, and Wessex Water.
Responsibilities
- Produce feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support.
- Produce design drawings, mechanical plant selection and specifications.
- Liaise and collaborate with water and other discipline teams (civil, electrical, process, mechanical) nationwide.
- Deliver high‑calibre technical quality, contribute to bids, and interface with clients and collaborators in design and planning.
- Deliver to agreed budget, programme and quality while supporting the preparation of project budget and programme.
- Design mechanical installations including municipal water and wastewater pumping stations, screens, grit removal plant, penstocks, valves, odour control systems, pipework, and related equipment.
- Conduct site visits for surveys and maintain liaison with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Prepare plant layouts, technical specifications, WIMES datasheets, valve schedules, equipment schedules, lifting strategies and P&ID drawings.
- Design pumping stations, perform headloss calculations and conduct pumping system analysis and pump selection.
Qualifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Progress toward Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution, such as IMechE.
- Proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, technical specifications and calculations with confidence and precision.
- Hands‑on experience delivering innovative solutions for water and wastewater engineering projects.
