We are currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding Building Structures team in Nottingham. Our Nottingham team works closely with our other multidisciplinary teams covering Building (MEP, Civil, and Structural) Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy, and environmental consultancy. Our Structural Engineering sector coverage is broad, including Defence, Justice, Healthcare, Education, Science, Industrial, and Client Advisory.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings, and other contract documents through the RIBA/project stages.
- Manage the Structural design delivery of projects from concept through to completion, organising a team to execute the work.
- Attend project and Client meetings on behalf of AECOM.
- Prepare planning, design, and feasibility reports.
- Ensure that project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
- Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.
- Ensure all quality, environmental and sustainability aspects of the project are identified, assessed and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
You will be exposed to and grow from the diverse range of projects and multi-disciplinary approach that AECOM can offer and will have opportunity to work across a larger AECOM team, often with national and international projects.
Requirements:
- To have a passion and drive for helping Clients solve their engineering challenges.
- Be a team player, ready to engage across disciplines and work together.
- Have good communication skills.
- Experience in Structural Engineering, including developing detailed design drawings and calculations, specification writing, and compiling technical reports.
- A track record in Structural Engineering, having worked across a number of sectors, for example, Defence, Justice, Education, Commercial, Healthcare, etc.
- Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with Clients.
- A track record of having delivered sustainable designs.
- Must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regs etc.
- Due to the nature of the work undertaken, successful applicants will need to have active UK SC Clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance, and ideally have single UK nationality.
Qualifications:
- A relevant Structural Engineering degree, and sufficient industry experience to allow Chartered progression.
- Chartered or with qualifications to become chartered.
- Any Justice sector or equivalent experience would be beneficial but not essential.
