We are currently recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our expanding Building Structures team in Nottingham. Our Nottingham team works closely with our other multidisciplinary teams covering Building (MEP, Civil, and Structural) Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy, and environmental consultancy. Our Structural Engineering sector coverage is broad, including Defence, Justice, Healthcare, Education, Science, Industrial, and Client Advisory.

The Principal Structural Engineer will lead, manage and control mid-large projects from concept to handover. The successful candidate will have proven design experience and deliver on quality, time, and budget. This role will suit a Chartered Structural Engineer who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career.

  • Effectively control commercial, managerial and technical aspects of projects or parts thereof for which you are responsible.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians designing building infrastructure schemes.
  • Undertake structural engineering projects, performing analyses and calculations as appropriate.
  • Supervise work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget.
  • Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.
  • Ensure all quality, environmental and sustainability aspects of the project are identified, assessed and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.

To have a passion and drive for helping Clients solve their engineering challenges, with experience in dealing directly with Clients. Extensive experience in Structural Engineering as a project leader, including developing detailed design drawings and calculations, specification writing, and compiling technical reports. A proven track record in Structural Engineering, having worked across a number of sectors, for example, Defence, Justice, Education, Commercial, Healthcare, etc. Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with Clients. Must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regs etc.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, successful applicants will need to have active UK SC Clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance, and ideally have single UK nationality.

Qualifications: A graduate in Structural Engineering or equivalent with experience of Structural Engineering in directly relevant fields.
