We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our multidisciplinary pavement engineering and construction materials team, working across airports, ports, highways, and related transport infrastructure. This role sits within a team that values engineers with established professional experience who are ready to take technical ownership and responsibility. Senior Engineers may operate as strong generalists across several services or as specialists in one area such as pavement design for ports, airports, highways, or construction materials. Both profiles are valued, provided the required level of technical judgement is demonstrated.
What you will be doing:
- Leading technical tasks or small work packages within larger projects
- Delivering pavement design, assessment, back analysis, and materials related work with limited supervision
- Independently interrogating standards, specifications, and guidance, forming a technical view before seeking peer input where appropriate
- Reviewing and checking technical work produced by Engineers and, where appropriate, other Senior Engineers
- Providing technical input to scope definition, fee estimates, and resourcing discussions
- Supporting site based activities where required, including leading inspections or resolving technical issues
- Applying engineering judgement when information is incomplete or constrained by programme or budget
- Contributing to the improvement and consistency of technical tools, workflows, and data outputs
Development & Progression & What we offer:
- Access to career development opportunities through AECOM University, technical practice networks, and dedicated volunteering initiatives
- Structured mentorship and technical support from experienced senior staff
- Exposure to a diverse range of projects and sectors, enhancing breadth and adaptability
- Chartership support provided and actively encouraged to advance professional credentials
- Opportunities to develop technical expertise and professional confidence over time, supporting both personal and career growth
- A technically strong but supportive working environment
- Space to learn, develop, and shape how work is delivered without being confined to a single discipline
What we offer:
- Flexible hybrid working
- A range of core and personalised benefits tailored to your lifestyle and well-being
- Charity & Community Activities - fundraising challenges, sponsored walks/runs, STEM outreach days, and local volunteering initiatives
- Wellbeing Events - yoga sessions, wellness weeks, lunchtime walks/cycles, and mental health awareness activities
- Sports & Social Clubs - five-a-side football, cycling groups, hiking clubs, and participation in corporate challenge events
- Annual Celebrations - summer events, holiday celebrations, and recognition awards
