Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Hydraulic Modeller for our Flooding & Hydrology Team. You will join one of our offices on the island of Ireland whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

These include local government, contractors, charities and water companies. In this role, you will be one of the lead technical team members supporting the junior members of the team to deliver top quality projects with an opportunity to help shape the direction and grow our flood risk capabilities in Ireland. Existing projects include Flood Risk Assessments to support a range of developments across our multi-disciplinary team, reservoirs work, and Integrated Drainage Assessments to name a few.

The team in Ireland has a diverse set of skills and we pride ourselves in being able to deliver large scale multidiscipline projects from the team supported by the wider AECOM groups. The team have a collaborative approach to working both within our team and more broadly developing our relationships with the Energy, Environmental and Transportation sectors.

Some example current projects include:

  • Programme of reservoir works to support Uisce Éireann.
  • Modelling to support the design of numerous fish passes and other in-channel structures for Uisce Éireann.
  • Site specific flood risk assessment for water and wastewater infrastructure to support Uisce Éireann.
  • Support to our transportation teams for delivery of new local and regional transport infrastructure.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Deliver: Support on developing the technical approach for modelling, hydrology and flooding projects supported by the wider team. Support in delivering technically challenging projects for key clients. Provide clients with technical input supporting them to make informed decisions.
  • Develop: Provide mentoring for junior team members and help them progress towards chartered status.
  • Quality: Support the team to fulfill a thorough quality assurance process and help grow our flood risk capabilities in Ireland.

Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • A bachelor's (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, GIS, Geography, or a similar subject.
  • Experience in Hydraulic Modelling, GIS or Data Analysis, in particular ArcGIS.
  • Experience in fluvial, pluvial and integrated Hydraulic Modelling, in particular Innovyze ICM or Floodmodeller/Tuflow.
  • Understanding of hydrology in Ireland, the UK and worldwide.
  • Chartered member or working towards chartership with ICE, Engineers Ireland or CIWEM.
