AECOM is offering an exciting role for a CDM Principal Designer to deliver one of the largest projects within our Energy portfolio. The role can be based at any of our primary UK offices. As a national team, you will collaborate with design teams, contractors, and clients to provide Principal Designer services within the energy industry. You will report to the Environment & Energy Principal Designer Lead for the UK&I region and support professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate the pre‑construction phase of projects with design teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure general principles of prevention are applied during the pre‑construction phase.
  • Ensure compliance with duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Coordinate with all duty holders on projects.
  • Assist clients in providing pre‑construction information.
  • Laise with principal contractors and share information relevant to the construction phase.
  • Prepare the Health and Safety File for the client at project handover.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering the Principal Designer role on energy or geographically large projects (e.g., roads, pipelines) and ensuring effective and efficient delivery of duties under CDM.
  • High level of commitment to quality, ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, and to manage multiple projects/business initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with ability to communicate requirements clearly and precisely.
