Overview
In this role you contribute to the growth of AECOM’s Ecology practice across NSW by delivering ecological assessments and field investigations. You will support State Significant Development and Infrastructure projects, produce technical reports, and help build trusted client relationships. You’ll lead project work, mentor junior ecologists, and contribute to capability growth and business development. The opportunity centers on delivering practical biodiversity outcomes within a supportive, hybrid-work environment and the chance to influence projects that protect habitats and water quality.

Responsibilities
- Deliver ecological assessments and field investigations
- Conduct baseline flora and fauna surveys and biodiversity assessments
- Support State Significant Development and Infrastructure projects
- Prepare technical reporting and environmental impact assessments
- Build client relationships and support project delivery
- Lead project teams and mentor emerging ecologists
- Grow capability and contribute to business development
- Drive innovation and improve ecological approaches and tools
Key requirements
- Experience in ecology, environmental consulting or related disciplines
- Knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
- Experience with biodiversity assessment, approvals and ecological investigations
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Passion for biodiversity, conservation and delivering practical environmental outcomes
- Leadership capability or interest in people leadership
- Experience with NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and accreditation is highly regarded but not essential across all levels
