Overview
In this role you will lead hydraulic design and technical reviews of stormwater and drainage for major projects, delivering buildable and robust outcomes. You will provide technical leadership across pit and pipe networks, open channels, culverts, and flood conveyance while integrating hydrologic modelling into design. You’ll mentor engineers, review calculations, and support delivery from planning through construction. The role sits within AECOM’s Perth team, contributing to growth in water resources capability and client engagement. This is a chance to shape critical infrastructure across transport, defence and energy, with relocation support and a strong pipeline of work.

Responsibilities
- Lead hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage for major projects
- Provide technical leadership in pit/pipe drainage, open channel systems, and detention/treatment infrastructure
- Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and integrate results into design
- Review and approve technical calculations, models, drawings, and specifications
- Advise on flood risk, drainage strategy, and infrastructure resilience to project teams and clients
- Support delivery from planning to detailed design and construction
- Act as senior technical reviewer and mentor for developing engineers
- Support client engagement, work-winning, and proposals in Perth
- Contribute to growth and maturity of local drainage and water resources capability
Key requirements
- 15+ years of relevant post-graduate experience
- Experience planning, assessing, and designing stormwater and drainage networks
- Strong capability in stormwater network hydraulics for underground and surface systems
- Experience delivering major infrastructure projects in a consulting or multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to provide technical leadership, design review, and mentoring
- Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement
- Commercial awareness and track record of successful project delivery
