At AECOM, we are delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world's most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.

As a Project Manager specialising in Net Zero Carbon, Sustainability, and District Heat Networks, you will lead and support the delivery of low-carbon and energy infrastructure projects across all stages of the project lifecycle — from early-stage concept and feasibility studies through design development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

You will work collaboratively with clients, engineers, sustainability specialists, and contractors to deliver complex environmental and energy transition projects that support national and regional decarbonisation goals.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of Net Zero, sustainability, decarbonisation, and district heat network projects.
  • Oversee feasibility studies, business case development, and strategic options appraisals.
  • Manage the design process across multiple disciplines (energy, civil, mechanical, sustainability, digital).
  • Ensure compliance with heat network efficiency standards, low-carbon guidance, and Net Zero objectives.
  • Act as client-side project manager throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Prepare and maintain project programmes, resource plans, and milestones.
  • Monitor and manage project risks, opportunities, and dependencies.
  • Lead procurement activities, contractor selection, and contract administration (NEC preferred).
  • Manage budgets, project controls, reporting and governance reviews.
  • Manage diverse internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, private developers, utilities, and community partners.
  • Build and lead multidisciplinary delivery teams and oversee consultant and contractor performance.
  • Coordinate design assurance, quality management and technical reviews.
  • Foster strong client relationships and identify opportunities for follow-on work or cross-sector support.
  • Oversee construction monitoring, site progress, change control, and technical queries.
  • Lead commissioning planning and readiness reviews for heat networks and low-carbon systems.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to required performance standards.

If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Experience managing projects within the sustainability, low-carbon energy, heat networks, or wider energy infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Net Zero principles, carbon reduction strategies, and energy system design.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of project management processes, governance, and reporting.
  • NEC Project Manager accreditation or experience preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Energy Systems, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status with RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, APM, IET, CIBSE, or relevant body.
