Overview

As an Associate Waste Consultant at AECOM, you will lead and support a growing portfolio of nuclear waste projects across the UK and internationally. You’ll guide multi-disciplinary teams through consultancy, strategy, and full project delivery, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You’ll build client relationships, support business growth, and contribute to advancing nuclear decommissioning and waste management capabilities. This role offers strong technical leadership in a collaborative, inclusive environment with opportunities to influence transformative projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex nuclear waste projects from inception to completion, on time and within budget
  • Provide technical leadership in waste management across characterization, treatment, storage, and disposal
  • Develop and implement waste management strategies and procedures meeting regulatory and best-practice standards
  • Conduct risk assessments and feasibility studies to support decision-making
  • Serve as primary client contact, nurturing strong relationships and tailored solutions
  • Prepare and present technical reports and documentation to clients and stakeholders
  • Advise on regulatory compliance, policy development, and strategic planning for waste management and decommissioning
  • Support business development including bid/proposal activities and opportunity identification
  • Mentor Graduates and Junior staff to foster technical and professional growth
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice in project delivery and team capability
