AECOM’s Manchester office is seeking an Associate Director to lead the delivery of civil infrastructure projects across a range of commercial and residential developments, supporting the continued growth of the business. Our Business Unit is highly multidisciplinary, bringing together civil and highway engineers, structural, mechanical and electrical/process engineers, architects, project managers, and surveyors. We work across diverse market sectors including industrial and logistics development, airports, infrastructure regeneration, and projects for Government Agencies and Local Authorities.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Act as Lead Engineer on medium to large-scale projects, managing and mentoring teams of 5–10 engineers and technicians.
  • Plan and manage workloads to ensure successful delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
  • Provide specialist technical input into studies and design work within your area of expertise.
  • Undertake quality assurance and technical reviews of work produced by others.
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates and programme schedules for large and complex projects.
  • Support business development activities within the unit, helping to secure new work within the property and development sectors.

Qualifications:

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience in UK development-led infrastructure engineering, typically gained within a private or consultancy environment.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MICE).
  • Strong technical knowledge of drainage design, including piped systems and SuDS, with experience in storage design and tools such as InfoDrainage.
  • Proven experience preparing contract drawings and specifications, and negotiating Sections 38, 278, 104, and 106 Agreements.
