Job Description

The Senior Program Manager provides leadership and coordinated oversight for the delivery of a medium to large program, or a substantial component of a more complex program. The role ensures that all aspects of the program are integrated, governed, and managed effectively to achieve the required outcomes.

As a senior delivery leader, the Senior Program Manager is responsible for guiding multidisciplinary teams, managing risks and issues, and ensuring strong stakeholder engagement. The role supports the development of program delivery approaches, fosters collaboration, and drives performance excellence across the program. It also contributes to organisational capability building and supports work‑winning activities.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead the successful delivery of a medium to large program, or a defined and complex portion of a larger program, ensuring outcomes are achieved in line with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Provide direction and coordination across project managers and functional leads to ensure integrated and consistent delivery.
  • Establish and maintain governance processes, including reporting, assurance activities, and decision‑making arrangements.
  • Support program initiation activities such as mobilisation, planning, development of delivery approaches, and implementation of program tools and systems.
  • Drive effective stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment, communication, and timely resolution of issues across internal and external parties.
  • Lead risk, issue, and change management processes to sustain delivery confidence and proactive problem‑solving.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and technical standards across all program activities.
  • Provide commercial and contractual oversight for assigned program elements, supporting supplier management and financial performance.
  • Promote innovation, digital adoption, and continuous improvement within the program team.
  • Lead, coach, and support team members’ development, contributing to capability growth and talent progression.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including supporting pursuits, proposals, and client engagement efforts.
  • Support organisational initiatives to strengthen program management consistency, maturity, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Required qualifications; Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience, and relevant experience gained in the position of senior programme manager or gain in within a project leadership roles.
  • Proven track record delivering medium to large programs or complex, multi‑disciplinary portfolios.
  • Professional certification (PgMP, PMP, APM‑PMQ, or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
  • Chartered or licensed professional status.

Preferred qualifications;

  • Leading integrated teams within complex program environments with multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Establishing and applying governance, reporting, and assurance processes to support effective program delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure, transformation, or capital investment programs.
  • Evidence of team development, mentorship, and contributing to organisational capability uplift.
  • Participation in professional associations, internal knowledge‑sharing, or industry initiatives.
