AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Fire Team in London, United Kingdom. This consultancy role offers a hybrid working model that blends office and remote work, providing flexibility to support a dynamic project environment.

About this Role
As a Senior Engineer on the Fire Team, you will oversee and develop a local team, managing technical fire engineering projects across multiple sectors and ensuring compliance with UK regulations. You will mentor junior staff, prepare technical submissions, and contribute to innovative problemâsolving.
Responsibilities
- Deliver complete fire engineering solutionsâfrom inception to completionâwith minimal senior oversight, including CFD modelling and evacuation analysis.
- Manage design projects, preparing and reviewing the work of team members.
- Apply technical fire engineering expertise to a range of sectors with a focus on UK markets.
- Develop new approaches to solve emerging challenges using standard procedures or innovative methods.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Lead the development of accurate cost estimates for technical efforts.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant degree or professional qualification.
- Experience within a similar consultancy or relevant business.
- Demonstrated experience in technical fire engineering across multiple sectors, with emphasis on UK regulations.
- Experience managing the fire engineering aspects of small to mediumâsized projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Experience providing guidance to entryâlevel fire engineers.
- Experience preparing fee proposals and task variations for fire engineering activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers or Engineering Council, progressing toward chartership.
- Experience leading and supervising a team of junior engineers, overseeing people and project delivery.
- A proven track record of professional development and continuous learning.
