At AECOM, we deliver a better world through infrastructure consulting. Our Water Engineering team in the Southeast is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing teams within our St Albans, Croydon, London Aldgate & Basingstoke offices. The team is delivering an exciting portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term frameworks with key clients including major UK water companies (such as Thames Water, Affinity Water, and Southern Water), Tier 1 contractors and international projects. Projects include strategic water pipelines, London Power Tunnels, HS2 utilities design, WTW UV upgrades, Thames Water mains rehabilitation, Mogden STW upgrades, and Southern Water STW upgrades. Working flexibly from Southern UK locations, you'll visit client sites in and around the South and collaborate with teams across multi-year frameworks. You'll take on multi-disciplinary projects from inception to delivery, creating innovative solutions that enhance the environment and improve communities. This role provides opportunities to develop your career as a technical engineer on a diverse range of projects addressing today's and tomorrow's technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate: Work with teams of engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists, and technical specialists to deliver projects in the UK and overseas, developing scope, pricing proposals, and communicating project progress with clients.
- Deliver: Produce feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, reports and technical specifications.
- Leadership: Undertake line manager responsibilities for junior staff, provide guidance and management, and complete performance evaluations for those assigned.
- Quality: Ensure design compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
Qualifications
- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Proven experience within the water sector at the Senior level.
- Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) or working towards chartered status.
- Experience of engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations and/or economic appraisals.
- Experience of outline and/or detailed design, preferably of wastewater/water treatment schemes and/or flood risk management or drainage schemes.
