We have several opportunities across the UK for STEM graduates to work within our Buildings and Places team, to help develop innovative class-leading project controls solutions to improve investment decision making to our clients in the UK and around the world. The roles can be based in our London, Birmingham, Glasgow or Manchester office within our Integrated Programme Controls (IPC) Team.

From identifying the needs, producing the initial project definition & brief and cost planning, right through to procurement, construction and building use, you will have an opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients. This includes some very high-profile names, often working alongside other construction professionals in multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and potentially further afield. Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for confident self-starters with a strong work ethic to champion AECOM's vision and values. The role can be varied and is dependent on the client, sector and project. The choice of rotating around disciplines is available throughout your career to maximise your personal fulfilment, subject to business availability.

Project Controls:

  • You will support for the application of robust controls across projects, challenging performance and implement corrective action to realise goals.
  • Assist in preparing, updating, and monitoring schedules, preparing status reports and staffing curves, in alignment with scope of work and resource, including subcontractors and consultants.
  • Monitor and report on project planned spend, actual spend, and estimate to complete.
  • Develop knowledge and support coordination of performance measurement and earned value plan and updates.
  • Support Project team, with the change control management process and gain insight into rational and importance of change events.
  • Support maintaining governance across the Control account.

Data Analytics:

  • You will play a crucial role in supporting the development and improvement of data management and analysis functions for the team.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support strategic business decisions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide data-driven solutions.
  • Support data quality initiatives by identifying and resolving inconsistencies, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the data.
  • Contribute to the automation of data processes to streamline reporting and analysis activities.
  • Support the implementation of data management best practices and contribute to process improvements.

Risk Management:

  • You will work alongside key stakeholders to demonstrate the effective identification, management and reporting of key risk exposures.
  • Propose and develop suitable risk control framework and enhanced reporting for the benefit of senior management and different stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of risk control monitoring, including sourcing of data in a sustainable way and to improve data quality.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative risk analysis and control solutions.
  • Support and develop risk systems and infrastructure.
  • Participate in the enhancement and automation of the different risk processes and reporting.
  • Manage complex projects requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Adhere to challenging reporting timelines while supporting PMs to ensure they have the necessary information for their reporting needs.

Planning and Scheduling:

  • You will work in an integrated project delivery team and gain experience of developing and maintaining accurate and robust project plans to add value to project goals.
  • Assist collaboratively with developing, maintaining, and progressing quality project plans/schedules in line with functional processes and project requirements.
  • Assemble project plans, ensuring they capture the full project scope and that resources are considered and loaded as required.
  • Validate plans/schedules for completeness and fitness for purpose, in line with the Project Management Plan.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and risks in the plan.
  • Monitor the critical path and key milestones, proactively advising the delivery team of any potential changes.

Cost Control:

  • This role will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of cost management ensuring control, accuracy, visibility, and value are embedded into project activities.
  • Provide cost management inputs, and support to the budget and forecast requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cost models to ensure accurate reporting, benchmarking, and analysis of infrastructure costs.
  • Work closely with the scheduling team to ensure integration and alignment of infrastructure cost models and schedules.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction measures.
  • Develop key cost management measures, metrics and cost drivers.
  • Aid in the development of benchmarking databases and reporting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (min 2.1 or equivalent) in a STEM discipline.
  • Member of a relevant body (desirable) with supporting accreditation / certification.
  • Relevant work experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Must have proficient IT skills, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to work with a wide range of Clients and Consultants.
  • Must possess excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, decision making and time management skills.
  • High aptitude to learning new systems / technology.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

The successful candidate must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), dependent on assignment.
