Our Streets Team has a vacancy in our South‐East Region for an Associate Director with relevant experience in leading the delivery of a broad range of traffic and highway engineering projects and being responsible for work‐winning activities. The successful candidate will share our ethos of developing impactful design solutions and delivering high levels of service to assist with the growth of our London and South‐East Streets business by enhancing existing and developing new client relationships.

The Streets team provide feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design, community engagement, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of multi‐discipline transportation and urban realm projects. You will be joining a strong team who are recognised as market leaders in the transportation sector including in active travel, public transport, bus user priority and general traffic engineering. More than that, we are an approachable, supporting and encouraging team who strive to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

The role would suit a self‐motivated individual looking to advance their career with a focus on supporting the South‐East Director with the management of the regional team and to grow the regional business. In addition to delivering work within a local office, the role will involve working closely with other AECOM teams across the UK & Ireland business, with opportunity for international working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client relationship building – develop sound client relationships, being alert to commercial opportunities, identifying emerging opportunities and developing strategies to fully exploit them.
  • Work winning – prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to or lead bids. Working with colleagues to deliver marketing and business development objectives in both the local region and nationally.
  • Project leadership – following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system, act as a Project Director and Project Manager including monitoring financial performance and key performance indicators. Comprehensive training on AECOM's project management system will be provided.
  • Technical leadership – ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
  • Team management – be a pro‐active Line Manager, managing career progression of line reports. This includes supporting and monitoring team skills and ensuring they are up to date with current best practice, techniques, and innovation.
  • Team leadership – support the Streets South‐East senior management team, including deputising for the Streets South‐East Director as required. This also includes pro‐actively supporting operations and recruitment activities.
  • Internal relationship building – establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams across AECOM's business lines.

Qualifications
  • A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of traffic engineering projects, particularly sustainable infrastructure projects and roads/traffic engineering projects.
  • A successful track record of delivery of bids and proposals and proven ability to manage and grow a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated delivery team.
  • A successful track record in developing and managing effective client relationships with strong communication skills and an understanding of the London/South‐East market.
