Join AECOM's Water business as an Associate Director Bid Manager. The role focuses on strategy and execution for the most complex major bids, guiding senior leaders, technical teams and bid teams to deliver winning proposals across the UK and Ireland.
Are you ready to help shape the future of our water business? As the Associate Director – Bid Manager, you will lead the strategy for major bids, manage the bid lifecycle, maintain the pipeline of opportunities, and collaborate with leadership to produce client‐centric outcomes.
Responsibilities- Prepare and manage large/complex proposals that may involve multiple departments, regions and external partners, supporting from capture through to interview/lessons learned stage.
- Lead the creation and execution of win strategies, working with capture managers, client account managers, technical teams, leadership and marketing to express this clearly in client communications and the bid.
- Oversee positioning and capture activities, including facilitating win strategy workshops with key internal stakeholders.
- Follow best practices, using AECOM processes and templates to create compliant and compelling bids.
- Lead and drive all bid stages—including kick‐off, answer planning, review stages, document production, interviews—adding value as a subject‐matter expert.
- Analyze internal debriefs and client feedback on proposals to ensure continuous improvement and identify trends, lessons learned and best practices across clients and markets.
- Lead discrete projects within the work‐winning team to embed best practice in bidding across Water, such as delivering training.
- Assist the Water Work Winning Lead with active pipeline management and resource planning.
- Line‐manage Water Work Winning team members, coaching and supporting their professional development.
- Experience operating at a senior leadership level, able to positively challenge and influence stakeholders.
- Proven experience working in a bids and proposals environment.
- Demonstrated success in winning high‐value / complex major pursuits (above £20 million) in the construction/engineering industry, from capture/positioning phase to interview/lessons learned.
- Experience creating win strategies/themes to craft compelling and compliant bid responses.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, both virtual and in‐person.
- Passion for line‐managing and developing people.
- APMP Practitioner/Professional level certification preferred but not essential.
