Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver Cultural Heritage desk‑based assessments, heritage statements, environmental statements (ES) chapters and other high‑standard planning application documents.
- Support and lead delivery of development projects across renewables, defence, water and major infrastructure.
- Provide bid production and internal system support for heritage consultancy projects.
- Lead or support DCO projects from initiation through consent and mitigation, including examination support.
- Arrange and chair statutory consultation meetings.
- Conduct regular formal quality assurance of reporting such as desk‑based assessments and environmental statements.
- Mentor and provide task‑specific training for graduate and consultant staff.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Collaborate closely with clients, colleagues and other discipline leads to optimise project delivery.
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance the Heritage team’s offering.
- Lead training workshops and develop sector expertise working parties.
Qualifications
- Relevant first degree and/or post‑graduate qualification in archaeology.
- Appropriate level of membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists or equivalent.
- Technical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of experience in heritage consultancy environment and UK planning system.
