Senior Sustainability Consultant

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our established Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team, part of our Building Engineering Business Line.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Sustainability & Carbon services for major public and private sector clients, helping them to design and deliver low‑carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and especially UK Defence & National Security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting clients to develop and understand their sustainability and decarbonisation requirements.
  • Developing, delivering, and reviewing whole‑life carbon reduction strategies for a variety of scoping mechanisms (e. g., Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, RICS, BREEAM etc.).
  • Liaising directly with clients and designers to develop sustainability and decarbonisation strategies at the outset, implementing these from early design through to construction.
  • Delivery of assessment certification schemes such as BREEAM and DREAM. LEED and/or WELL experience is advantageous.
  • Delivery of sustainability appraisals such as SAW and SEEAM.
  • Supporting project management and programming.
  • Supporting work winning through the bidding process including tender responses.
  • Mentoring junior staff where suitable to help upskill.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of the building design and construction process.
  • Experience of undertaking WLCAs using One Click LCA, assessment certification schemes especially BREEAM and DREAM, and sustainability appraisals.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and apply it to practical sustainability solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information.
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Additional Information
  • Successful applicants will need active UK SC clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance, and ideally a single UK nationality.
