Grow here. “Are you ready to join a team of hydrologists and shape the future of the Water Industry?” Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Hydrologist.
You can be based in one of our UK or Ireland offices whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.
You will be a key player in delivering impactful water projects across the UK and internationally.
You will lead hydrological assessments that inform flood risk management, major infrastructure planning, water resources strategy, and environmental permitting.
This is a senior role combining technical excellence, client engagement, project oversight, and team leadership within a growing water team.
Here’s what you’ll do: Technically lead or verify flood hydrological assessments which are assisting the design of flood alleviation schemes, reservoir engineering and flood risk assessments.
Technically review or verify reports documenting hydrological assessments.
Support the wider Water team in business development activities for a wide range of clients on national and international projects.
Mentor staff within the team in hydrological estimation to support their professional development Build relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services and share them with the team.
Deliver thought leadership and represent AECOM at conferences to showcase our expertise.
Drive innovation within the team to deliver our projects efficiently and right first-time, including the development and enablement of AI solutions.

Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?Here’s what we’re looking for: Degree (BSc/BEng/MSc) in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related discipline.
Evidence of significant experience (more than 15 years) in leading the estimation of flood flows using FEH and REFH2 for flood mapping reservoir engineering.
Deep understanding of statistical hydrological analysis.
Demonstration of working with hydraulic modellers to calibrate hydraulic models.
Experience in rating reviews.
