Senior Rail Systems Engineer – UK (Leeds)

We are seeking a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to join AECOM’s Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team, focusing on rail projects across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Develop System Engineering plans, processes, system definitions, technical requirements and system architectures.
  • Manage technical requirements using appropriate techniques and tools (e.g., DOORS, ComplyPro) and deliver systems engineering processes to meet customer requirements.
  • Evaluate the interrelationship of system requirements and system design/development requirements; develop scope of works and work packages with clients; serve as the senior technical resource for the team or project.
  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and designs within your area of expertise; develop procedures to facilitate high‑quality, cost‑effective work.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews of project deliverables; develop cost estimates and technical effort estimates; perform quality control of design calculations or drawings; prepare technical specification sections; contribute to engineering budget and schedule development to meet requirements.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in railway systems safety and assurance, including system safety and interoperability.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
