AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Compliance & Permitting Consultant to join our UK & Ireland EHS Team within the Environment and Energy business at consultant grade. You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental Permitting business in the UK and Ireland. Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business, you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Environmental Permitting: Deliver Environmental Permit applications, variations, transfers, and surrenders for a variety of clients across the UK and Ireland.
- Environmental Assessment & Risk Management: Conduct environmental risk assessments to identify potential environmental impacts and risks. Develop and implement mitigation measures and management plans to minimise impacts and enhance performance.
- Compliance & Regulatory Advisory: Advise clients on the implications of legislation, regulatory guidance, and Best Available Techniques (BAT). Ensure client compliance with relevant environmental legislation, best practice, and BAT standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Support clients in regulator and stakeholder engagement. Work collaboratively with EHS colleagues and the wider Environment team to deliver robust assessments.
- Environmental Auditing: Carry out environmental audits, including assessments of legal compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: A base first degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science discipline.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in an industrial or consultancy role. A strong track record in successfully delivering Environmental Permitting compliance services and preparing the associated documentation.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive working knowledge of relevant UK National and European environmental legislation.
- Skills: Excellent report writing, technical reviewing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team across a range of projects, including those with tight deadlines.
- Personal Attributes: Proactive and positive attitude with strong team collaboration skills. Confident in liaising with colleagues, industrial clients, and regulators.
