Our Water Team in Scotland is delivering a diverse and high-impact portfolio of projects that are shaping sustainable and resilient water systems for generations to come. One of our most recent wins includes Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise, which will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).
This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to support this programme and work alongside a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency. Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Mechanical Engineer in one of our Scotland offices – whilst also taking advantage of work from home days through our hybrid work approach.
Here's what you'll do:
- Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support.
- Produce plant layouts, design drawings and mechanical plant selection including specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, valve schedules, equipment schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic headloss calculations and P&IDs.
- Liaise and collaborate with our water and other discipline teams including civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers nationwide.
- Visit site to carry surveys and support liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers.
- Attend and contribute to design review meetings such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS.

Qualifications:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution, such as IMechE.
- A proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, technical specifications, and calculations with confidence and precision.
- Hands-on experience in delivering innovative solutions for water and wastewater engineering projects.
