The Information Manager is responsible for the delivery of an accessible, efficient, informed and fully compliant information management consultancy service which enables innovation and maximises the use of both AECOM’s and client’s process and procedures. This role will be central to protecting our client’s reputation as the Information Manager by ensuring that all client teams comply with statutory obligations, guidance and established good practice in relation to how client teams manage their information.
Here’s what you’ll do
- Provide input to the development and maintenance of information management policy, standards, and guidance, ensuring they are available to all project.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations/codes of practice and current thinking within the discipline of information management.
- Maintain broad but proportionate knowledge of internal client developments/ongoing work within client programmes.
- Ensure that the information management team are managed and developed effectively including the monitoring and review of individual performance and supporting individual development.
- Manage the information management workload ensuring the effective allocation of resources by regularly assessing risks and business requirements.
- Contribute to the development of both AECOM’s and client’s information governance strategy and business plan for the Records and Information Management Team.
- Support the information management team to ensure effective processes are in place to manage the life cycle of client’s records and information from creation or receipt to disposal or transfer to agreed archiving solution to meet regulatory requirements.
- To promote awareness of information management good practice by developing communications with our corporate information management network and through training.
- Report on progress against business plans and risk registers.
- Produce reports for Information Governance Steering Team, Information Asset Owners and the Senior Information Risk Owner as required.
- Work with external stakeholders to develop relationships or to seek advice or agreement to help promote or improve information management, for example, contractors, suppliers, or records management team.
- Provide input to the wider development of the AECOM’s information governance strategy and business planning process.
- Respond to enquiries from team members and provide advice where required.
- Work to encourage a consistent approach to information management across the client programmes by working with specific Teams and ensuring appropriate communication is shared.
- Has a solid foundation of understanding or analysis of client business practices and goals; develops and formulates solutions to client problems on assigned projects.
- Under limited supervision, responsible for the creation of work plans and task definitions.
- Has broad technical knowledge but possesses an area of specialization or focus.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You will hold a suitable Information Profession qualification in information science, computer engineering, or related field to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent and/or will have experience at Practitioner Level (EO/HEO) of the Government Knowledge & Information Management (GKIM) Professional Skills Framework or ISO19650.
- Understanding and experience of relevant legislation, guidance, standards, and codes such as Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and Public Records Act 1958.Ability to lead and deliver change and contribute to culture change successfully.
- Ability to influence at senior levels on matters relating to information management and associated risks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally
- Good working knowledge of information risk analysis/management.
- Positive attitude towards learning and development demonstrated by a record of continuing professional development.
- Ability to manage time and priorities appropriately.
- Ability to manage performance, motivate and develop people
- With a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in information management.
- Must have extensive knowledge of EDMS/CDE platforms with Aconex being of particular interest.
Must be able to obtain necessary security clearances required by the role.
