Our expanding Rail Asset Management Group are seeking graduates to develop and grow the Geospatial Engineering business within AECOM working on exciting projects across various infrastructure sectors. Geospatial Engineering is made up of the Geomatics, UAV and Instrumentation & Monitoring team supported by BIM/CAD management, it specializes in the delivery of an integrated measurement service that provides precise surveying, mapping, and monitoring of assets.
Responsibilities:
- Planning the phasing of construction and commissioning work to minimise disruption to passengers and the public
- Ensuring that designs and surveys maximise sustainability outcomes during construction and over whole life of assets
- Developing designs that are safe to build, operate and maintain, and that protect the safety of passengers and the public
- Supporting engineering designs teams from other complex railway skill areas such as signalling, electrification and permanent way
- Building and processing geospatial datasets that includes aerial imagery, asset monitoring data, topographical survey or point cloud data for integration into engineering designs
- Supporting survey teams in the field to carry out topographical, rail, UAV, asset monitoring, laser scanning and surveys
- Learning and developing new technical skills working with UAVs, GNSS, scanners and other geomatic survey equipment
Qualifications:
- A degree in Geospatial / GIS / Geoscience, with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above
- An MSc/MEng in Geospatial / GIS / Geoscience would be an advantage
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
- Good attitude to flexible working patterns, including nights and weekends
- Effective communicator with colleagues, internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing
- Capability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
- Ability to think creatively and show initiative
- Good time management skills
- Some knowledge of technical aspects of Geomatics, UAVs or Monitoring would be advantageous
