Graduate Civil or Structural Engineer Renewable Energy

AECOM is seeking graduates to join their Renewable Energy Civil/Structural team in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Inverness, starting from August 26 onwards.

The team is at the forefront of the energy sector’s transformation, driving the shift toward a more sustainable and inclusive future. As a global leader in advisory, engineering, environmental, programme delivery, and construction services, AECOM is committed to delivering resilient, sustainable legacies.

Successful candidates will be deployed to work on different projects, providing civil/structural support for various types of technologies, including:

  • On and offshore wind
  • Solar PV
  • Hydroelectric – run of river and pumped storage
  • Grid connection works – cable route and substation civil
  • Hydrogen production and storage
  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)

A typical project example includes the Lancaster University Solar Farm, where AECOM completed a reference design and prepared a full pack for tendering.

The role involves supporting the delivery of consultancy services on renewable energy engineering projects, providing input into feasibility level studies, preparing technical reports, and assisting in securing work with renewable energy developers and their supply chain.

The ideal candidate will have a BEng in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, with a 2:1 degree classification or above. They should be able to demonstrate a commitment to continued education and improvement, have a demonstrable interest in a career in renewable energy, and possess good Microsoft Office skills.
