At AECOM, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to vital infrastructure projects that improve communities, protect the environment, and support the delivery of essential water services. As part of our structural engineering team, you'll gain experience across a broad range of water sector projects, providing an excellent platform to develop both your technical and professional skills.

Our work spans the full water cycle, offering exposure to diverse and challenging projects, including:

  • Flood defence infrastructure
  • Large-diameter tanks and deep shafts for wastewater networks
  • The design and assessment of tanks, buildings, and industrial steelwork associated with water and wastewater treatment facilities

From day one, you'll work alongside experienced engineers who are committed to your development. You'll be given real responsibility, supported to build your technical expertise, and encouraged to play an active role in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

We're passionate about investing in our people and supporting long-term career development. As part of our graduate programme, you'll receive guidance and mentorship on your journey towards professional chartership, with support for achieving qualifications such as MICE and MISTRUCTE.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • An MEng in Civil Engineering (2:1 or above preferred) or a related qualification.
  • A genuine interest in structural engineering and the water sector.
  • A desire to develop your technical knowledge and build a successful engineering career.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team while also showing initiative and independence.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • Previous work experience or placements within engineering are beneficial but not essential.
