We are currently searching for a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to come and join us here at AECOM in one of our offices in the UK and focus on the rail projects as part of the Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team. AECOM holds extensive knowledge in planning, designing and managing transportation systems — as well as restoring and replacing aging infrastructure — to help our public and private clients find smarter, more advanced ways to move people across cities, countries and continents.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Deliver: Developing System Engineering plans and processes and undertake the Development of system definitions, technical requirements and system architectures.
  • Oversee: Management of technical requirements using appropriate techniques and tools (i.e. DOORS, ComplyPro). Development and delivery of systems engineering processes to support customer requirements.
  • Provide Expertise: Evaluate the interrelationship of system requirements and aspects of system design and development requirements. Develop scope of works and work packages with clients and serve as the senior technical resource for the team/project.
  • Ensure Quality: Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
  • Collaborate: Participates in multi-disciplinary review of project deliverables. Develop cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects. Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings. Prepares technical specification sections. Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of railway systems safety and assurance experience including system safety and interoperability.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations.
