The job holder is expected to apply the following responsibilities:

  • To manage AECOM and External Design Teams in the design/delivery of infrastructure projects (water, power, nuclear, renewables etc.) across the UK.
  • To help grow the Design Management team by demonstrating value at every opportunity and assist in managing and mentoring junior design managers.
  • To forge relationships with engineers/designers across AECOM and externally to build trust and develop opportunities for new business.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the team Leadership to manage the Design Management team.
  • Support the team Leadership in their roles and undertake duties such as business development, team performance reviews etc. as required.
  • Gain an understanding of the Team leaders roles and responsibilities and when required, supplement the Team Leaders in their absence.
  • Management of AECOM financial process and invoicing.
  • Contribute to the DM business planning as required and continuously review business planning targets to monitor progress of the team.
  • Lead Design Management projects across the UK and Internationally (where required).
  • Assist in the development of the Design Management team members through mentoring, training and reviews.
  • Review of work outputs from Design Management team prior to issue to ensure quality and compliance with contractual obligations.

Design Management:

  • Agree team structure/governance, roles/responsibilities/scope and manage Sub-consultants.
  • Establish and Implement Design Management Procedures including but not limited to: Communication/Information Exchange, Design Coordination, Change Management, Quality Management.
  • Manage Client, Stakeholder and Statutory Approvals.
  • Establish and Monitor Design Schedule and Progress, including EVM.
  • Agree deliverables and monitor outputs to ensure quality standards and contractual obligations are met.
  • Organise Project Meetings and define the Decision Making Process.

Qualifications:

This is a Client facing role and demonstrable skills in maintaining and developing client relationships are required. The jobholder will be expected to convey a positive attitude whilst maintaining the highest standards in undertaking their work and acting with integrity and professionalism at all times. They should comply with the firms laid down standards, procedures and processes and implement these effectively. The role would suit a built environment design consultant, e.g. engineer or architect with 7+ years experience in the management of multi-disciplinary design teams.
